Once a train car storage facility, this industrial structure in Copenhagen has been transformed into a ceramics residency and community hub celebrating craft, connection, and calm. The design honors the building’s utilitarian past while creating a warm, tactile environment for contemporary makers.
The first floor houses three working studios—two dedicated to resident artists and one designed for workshops and group classes—alongside a ceramics shop and café that open directly onto an outdoor garden. Large restored doors blur the line between interior and exterior, allowing light, air, and community life to flow seamlessly through the space.
Upstairs, private living quarters provide comfort and quiet for artists in residence. Throughout, natural materials and furnishings, handcrafted details, and ceramic lighting designed by local artists reinforce the project’s focus on artistry and authenticity. The result is a space that bridges heritage and creativity, fostering dialogue, craft, and a shared appreciation for the art of making.
